A Soldier can be programmed for war, but what about love?

Zeke Andrews and his band of soldiers volunteered to be experimented on by the government to help protect the world from an invading force of aliens.

Is there more to the programs implants than he thought?

An overwhelming urge fills his soul when he meets an intriguing woman.

Could it be science or love? Cassandra Dawson could have the answers. Is Zeke man enough to find them?

Excerpt From: Love by Design

From the Journal of Dr. Rae Roett

July 22, 2015

We made contact today. It’s only a matter of time before the aliens land on Earth. They call themselves the Raxioni and our correspondence indicates they are peaceful beings. When we sent out the feeler months ago, we didn’t think anyone would be listening. Bob and I were shocked when first contact was made and we discovered they spoke English. They seem as anxious to meet us as we are to meet them. I just wish there was a way to do more research on these beings. We have so many questions but, so far, not a lot of answers.

The contingency plan is in place in case things don’t go as expected. The research itself is light years ahead of its time, and the chance to experiment alone is worth the risk.

It’s been years in the making, but the time is finally here. We just needed an excuse to start, and what better reason than an alien race landing on our planet. The Sentry project is a go, and my colleagues have been interviewing candidates for months. We have a great batch of test subjects we’d like to have ready to go before the alien’s touchdown. The soldiers will never know the real reason we are starting this programme. For all they are concerned, they are doing it for their country. Uncle Sam is backing us, and what they don’t know won’t really hurt them. It will benefit them in the long run.

Our Plan B will be implemented, as well, because you can’t be too safe. It makes me a little nervous, but I want my daughters protected. I scheduled their procedure for tomorrow to hurry along the process. The other scientists will bring their children in as well. I can’t wait until the beings land. I hope they will be more forthcoming in the months ahead.

September 15, 2015

Things did not go as expected with the Raxioni. The situation started out peaceful enough, but some idiot soldier shot at them in a panic, and now, they have attacked Earth in full force. The Sentries are a go. We are calling them The Sentries of the Earth or SE for short. I’m just glad we’ve had them in training for a while. Most of the planet thinks the Sentries were formed because of the attack; we will continue to let them believe that. We always feared an attack would happen. Who knew it would be because of our own soldiers? The Raxioni will not listen to reason and plan to wipe out the humans to settle on our planet. We’ll never know if that was their plan all along, but at this point, I don’t care.

My daughters underwent their experiment, and everything appears to be normal. We won’t know more until we activate the chip. Cassandra seems resentful and unsure of what is really happening, but I will not risk their lives. This is for their own good.

We are in hiding now with the Sentries. We are trying to protect the human race, and nothing will get in the way.

Aside: One of the experiments that is working well is the tattoo warning system. I am shocked and amazed at the new discovery. It’s not science but magic. Once the Raxioni started to fight, the magic users approached the government to help. They call themselves Mages. Most of the group was sceptical at first, but I have an open mind and love what they are showing us. The hope is that we will win this fight. I want a chance to study these Mages once the war is over. They are fascinating creatures. Why didn’t we know about them before now? What else could be out there?

For now, each scientist is assigned a Mage to help experiment with the soldiers. I don’t care what it takes, my family will be safe, and if magic will do it, so be it. We weren’t sure how well it would stand up, but we have discovered magic does exist and with science to help we should have the threat taken care of soon.

It was just a little innocent research…

A Black & White Collection story

Romance writer Julia Martin is fine with her life, just the way it is. Her simple apartment, successful career and Thursday-night pizza dates with her too-hot-for-words editor Ross are more than enough for her. At least, that’s what she thinks until her cat dies.

Ross Philips has spent years lusting after his shy best friend, but fears his rather strong sexual desires will be too much for Julia. When she falls into a depression over the death of her cat and stops writing, Ross decides she needs a change.

His suggestion? Try a new genre—erotica. And, of course, being such a good friend and editor, he even plans to help her do a little research.

Warning, this title contains the following: explicit sex, spanking, anal sex, bondage, toys, graphic language and all sorts of fun stuff.

A loud knock at the door had Julia jumping up. Suddenly feeling very isolated and unprotected, she scanned the room for some sort of weapon. Spying a big log in her pile of firewood, she grabbed it, cowering in the corner. The pounding on the door continued, louder this time, and Julia’s heart began to race. Who the hell would be on top of a mountain in the middle of nowhere on a day like this? It was a virtual whiteout outside.

“Jules, open the damn door. I’m freezing my ass off out here.”

Ross? She sighed in relief, rushing to unlock the door, and there in the doorway stood her very tall, very wet editor.

“What are you doing here?” she asked, aware her tone was distinctly unfriendly, but he had scared her half to death.

Eyes narrowed, Ross entered the cabin, his arms laden with packages, a large duffel bag thrown over one shoulder, a backpack over the other. “I tried to call, but the phone lines are down,” he answered gruffly.

“My cell?” she asked sarcastically.

“No service up here,” he replied with equal irritation.

“Is something wrong?” She couldn’t imagine what could be so bad it would compel Ross to leave the comfort of his penthouse apartment in New York City to drive for nine hours to the mountains.

“Blizzard.” He unloaded his bags on the kitchen counter. “Headed this way. I was worried you’d be snowed in without enough food.”

Secretly pleased at his incredibly sweet gesture, Julia smiled and helped him unload the soggy paper bags. “You’ve brought enough food for an army.” She gaped at all the meat, vegetables, fruit and snacks he carried in. “I hope you don’t think I need all this to survive. Hey, I didn’t hear a car. How did you get here?”

“By the grace of God and my four-wheel drive. I almost made it all the way to the cabin. The snow is already pretty deep. I got stuck about a mile down the road. Had to walk the rest of the way. Looks like we’re going to be stuck here for a while.” Pulling off his drenched coat, he hung it on the peg by the door.

“My God,” she exclaimed, glancing out the frosted window, “it’s freezing out there and the visibility must be zero. You’re lucky to have made it at all. What the hell were you thinking? You could have been killed.” She put her hands on her hips, suddenly aware of the very real danger he’d just escaped.

“What was I thinking?”

“Yes. Good Lord, Ross, of all the idiotic things to do. What if you’d crashed the car? What if you’d gotten lost in the snow while looking for the cabin? You could have frozen to death.”

Ross shook his head. Clearly, of all the receptions he’d imagined, this nagging scold was not one he’d considered. “I guess, like the idiotic fool I am, I thought you’d be glad to see me. That you’d offer me a warm drink and some supper. I thought you’d be happy not to be stuck up here in this godforsaken cabin alone in a blizzard!”

Biting her lip, she said softly, “Well, I am. Happy, that is. I was feeling rather trapped—and alone.”

As quickly as his anger came, it left him. Smiling, he admitted, “It was a damn stupid thing to do. Unfortunately that fact didn’t occur to me until I was about halfway up the mountain and I realized it was too late to turn around.”

“Let’s get you out of those wet clothes,” she said, suddenly very pleased to have him with her. “I’ll put some water on for tea.”

“Don’t bother with the tea. I brought a bottle of Southern Comfort.” His hands shaking, he attempted, with little success, to tackle the buttons on his soggy flannel shirt. “We are in the South, after all.”

“I’m not sure West Virginia classifies as the South. It’s really sort of the middle. Here, let me.” Pulling his trembling hands away, she quickly unbuttoned his shirt and tugged it off. His skin was like ice to the touch. “You’ll be lucky if you don’t catch pneumonia or frostbite,” she said, unable to resist one more scold. “Come stand by the fire.” Taking his icy hands in hers, she rubbed them lightly. “I’ll get a blanket for you. Stay here and try to get warm.”

Crossing the room, she retrieved a fleece blanket from the foot of the bed as Ross struggled with the button fly on his damp jeans.

“I’ll do that,” she said, concerned for his health. His hands were still trembling and looked blood red and chapped. No doubt he’d lied about how long he’d really been roaming around in the snow and wind.

“Jules,” he started to object, but she was already working the buttons free, concern distracting her from exactly what she was offering to do. When she had the last button unclasped, she grabbed the waistband and started to pull the clinging denim off his legs. The task was harder than she would have thought, but sheer determination and worry kept her going. She struggled for several minutes, working the material down his muscular legs, stopping only to pull off his boots and socks, before finally peeling the jeans completely off.

“There,” she exclaimed, looking up into Ross’s suddenly pained face. Her mouth went dry as she realized that during her exertions she’d knelt in front of him and was now eye level with his barely clad cock straining through the material of his silk boxer shorts. This part of him certainly gave new meaning to the term “frozen stiff”.

“I—” she stumbled, unwilling to take her eyes off his very large appendage. She was sure she’d never seen anything quite so big and her curiosity outweighed her embarrassment.

“My God,” she whispered, awestruck as the monstrous cock seemed to grow even larger before her eyes. Without a thought, she reached up and nearly touched it before a growl above her and a strong hand on her wrist stopped her.

“Brown Eyes,” Ross said, his deep voice flowing over her like honey, “if you don’t move away from that this minute, I’ll keep you kneeling there the rest of the night.”

When monsters need a makeover, they head for the one place that can make it happen. Hollywood.

Book 1, Monsters in Hollywood series.

Luke is desperate to save his people. A lifetime of sneaking in to human houses and watching movies has convinced him that if he can make a great movie about monsters, humanity will change its opinion of them. With his friends at his side, all in shiny new human bodies, Luke heads for Tinsel Town.

A rising Hollywood producer, all-business Lena knows a good story when she sees it. Luke? He’s just another amateur who wants to get famous. But Luke’s too gorgeous to pass up. And there’s something vulnerable about him that leads her to throw caution to the wind and invite him to dinner.

One night of incredible sex later, Lena wakes up next to the surprise of her life. She’s sleeping next to a monster. Literally.

Appearances aside, she finds herself wanting to help Luke save his people. But they’ve got more to worry about than just human prejudice.

Some of the monsters would rather stay in the closet—and to make them all stay there, they’re willing to kill.

Warning, this title contains the following: multiple orgasms, spanking, misuse of kitchen utensils and sex with monsters.

JR laughed and told me no. heehee Glad she did. BUT…I still like the name. I have one other cover, but I’m not going to show it because I want to finish the story and hope to sub it where V is a cover artist so I can have it for keeps. It is my favorite cover of V’s. I LOVE IT.

When I wanted to submit my first story I went to her to have her look at it and she was a big help. Today I’m going to feature one of the books I reviewed. Ask Adam.

Can one wild night of passion turn into the romance of a lifetime?

Lexi Tanner’s got a major problem: AJ Riley, the man she’s about to approach for a hefty donation, turns out to be the stranger she shared a night of steamy sex with less than a week past. She’ll do anything to raise money for a children’s charity—anything except sell herself. Now how can she ask AJ for money without it seeming like he’s paying for sexual favors?

If there’s one thing the past has taught Adam “AJ” Riley, it’s that loving someone can only lead to pain. He knows he shouldn’t feel so attracted to Lexi, and he definitely shouldn’t trust a woman who’d sleep with a man one week and approach him for money the next. Yet somehow Lexi breaks through all his barriers. His instincts tell him to run but his heart wants to give Lexi—and love—a second chance. How can he let go of his tragic past and still protect his battered heart?

Ask Adam:

An Excerpt

Lexi Tanner made her way resolutely through the lobby. The only thing standing between her and fifty thousand dollars was a polite-looking receptionist.

She flashed the man her most dazzling smile. “Hello there. I’m looking for a guest here at the hotel. Could you tell me what room Mr. AJ Riley is in?”

The young man flashed a dazzling smile straight back. “I’m sorry, ma’am. I’m not at liberty to give you that information.”

Bugger. She’d figured that would probably happen, but she’d had to give it a try anyway. “Perhaps you could ring his room and let him know he has a visitor?”

“To be honest, ma’am, I’m not sure he’s there. I saw him leave a couple of hours ago.”

“Well, I guess it’s still worth a try.” She had to see Riley today. She was too excited not to.

The man lifted a receiver and dialed. Surreptitiously, Lexi tried to see which buttons he’d pushed, but the counter hid the phone.

He covered the mouthpiece with his hand. “And whom may I say is calling?”

Lexi floundered for a second. She didn’t particularly want a hotel clerk introducing her over the phone. “I’m a representative from the conference. I want to thank him for his generous sponsorship.”

He shook his head. “Mr. Riley’s not answering. Would you like to leave a message?”

Biting her lip, Lexi considered this possibility. Unless Riley’s secretary had given him a rundown of all his upcoming appointments, he wouldn’t have a clue who she was. She didn’t feel like explaining it on an answering machine, or worse, in a memo scrawled on hotel notepaper. Nope. She’d prefer to introduce herself in person.

“No, thank you. I’ll try again later.”

The newspaper article had specified that Riley was staying at the same hotel. How could fate be so cruel? Putting her so close to him, and then preventing them from meeting. It just seemed mean. She walked away, trying not to feel too peeved. If all else failed, she still had her official appointment with him in Sydney next week. But since they were both in Melbourne now, she’d do what she could to meet him before then. Tea break wasn’t too far off. Perhaps he’d be back by then.

A thought occurred to her. If Riley’dleft his hotel room, perhaps he was downstairs, in this very lobby, right now. Who knew? She scanned the grand entrance of the hotel. It didn’t matter that she’d never met him before and had no idea what he looked like. She knew she’d recognize him the minute she laid eyes on him. Over the last six weeks of trying to track him down, she’d conjured up a pretty good mental image of him.

He had to be in his late fifties, early sixties. His multi-million dollar business meant he’d been around a while and built up his empire over a good few years. So, she’d assigned him grey hair. Maybe silverish—a dash of elegance to fit the successful businessman image. He wore glasses—but only for reading—and had a kind smile. Anyone who donated the kind of money to charity that he did had to have a kind smile. For some inexplicable reason, she just knew he had a moustache. His clothes of choice were expensive suits, silk ties and polished shoes. Finally, she pictured him as slightly overweight. All those business lunches had to have taken their toll.

The quick once-over failed to reveal the man. Unfortunately, it also failed to reveal the small suitcase on the floor in front of her. Her ankle connected with the bag, and solid ground slipped away from beneath her feet.

In the brief time it took to fly unceremoniously across the reception area of the five star hotel, Lexi realized in complete mortification that she would land spread-eagle on the floor in front of fifty or so complete strangers.

As the chandelier above her spiraled out of sight and the carpet loomed ever closer, something clamped around her upper arms with the power of iron manacles, effectively halting her downward plummet. While her body came to a screeching stop, her head kept moving, propelled forward by the force of her fall, until it slammed into something solid—a wall of hot, male muscle.

Struggling to catch her breath, Lexi grabbed hold of the first thing she could to steady herself. Her fingers closed around soft handfuls of expensive cotton, and the heat from beneath the material seared through her. The wall of muscle pulsated beneath her hands.

“Steady,” a voice sounded in her ear, low and deep. Despite the precarious situation she found herself in, it sent shivers whistling down her spine. “I’ve got you.”

The iron manacles eased their pressure but did not release her. Lexi shifted back a little so she could look into the face of the man who’d broken her fall.

As her eyes locked with his, her heart simply ceased beating. Never before had attraction been so sudden, or so fierce. His gaze trapped hers. His eyes weren’t just cold—they were icy. They reminded her of a glacier glinting blue streaks beneath a winter sun. As she stared, aware of her heart beating once again, slowly at first, then faster and faster until it raced, she wondered how such cold eyes could fire up her body with just a look.

“You okay?” Again, his voice unsettled her. It made the back of her neck tingle.

Winded and unable to speak, she nodded. It had nothing to do with her fall. His presence left her panting, searching uselessly for oxygen. His aftershave wafted around her, compounding her problem. Every time she managed to inhale, she caught his scent—spicy, earthy and dangerous and tinged with a splash of power. The man smelt of success.

She nodded again and cleared her throat. “I…uh…I’m okay.”

Good grief, he was gorgeous. Drop-dead, heart-stopping, breathtaking gorgeous. Not to mention intriguing. Thick black hair framed his tanned skin and highlighted his straight nose, which screamed of affluence and arrogance. His chiseled and beautiful face had high cheekbones and a generous mouth. His lips stole her attention, though. They were set in lines so hard, she wondered if he’d forgotten how to smile. He wore his features in a rigid mask, and they showed no signs of softening.

She let go of his shirt. “Thank you. For catching me.”

He said nothing, merely nodded and released her from his grasp, allowing a little distance between them. He stood a few feet away yet towered above her. A charcoal suit jacket hugged his broad, square shoulders. Lord, they weren’t just broad; they hid the entire lounge behind him.

Wrinkles marked his shirt at the two points where she’d clasped it in a death grip. Without thinking, she stepped forward and smoothed the creases. Beneath her ministrations, his stomach jerked, then tightened. She responded viscerally. Deep between her legs, she sprang to life in a gush of liquid heat.

She dropped her hands and stepped back. “I’m…sorry. Your shirt…I just…” She just what? Wanted to show her gratitude? Tried to cop a feel? Blushed a little? Got seriously turned on? All of the above? Besides, why apologize? She’d only tried to straighten his shirt. He’d gone and…and…well, flexed his stomach muscles. Jerked under her touch.

God help her, he stared at her now with undisguised hunger in those icy eyes. Looked at her as if she were breakfast. His lips parted and a hint of color tinged his cheeks. Sheer animal magnetism radiated off him. Desire shimmied through her unchecked, causing her breasts to swell.

He noticed. His icy gaze settled on her nipples, turning them into tight beads. His own chest expanded as he breathed deeply and then exhaled with a sharp hiss. The sound reverberated through her body, finely tuning those parts of her that were not already humming with need.

From behind, someone clapped him on the back, oblivious to the encounter unfolding between them. “Mate,” said the newcomer, not noticing Lexi, “he’s ready to talk figures.”

Though he inclined his head to listen, the glacial eyes remained fixed on her. He nodded briefly in response and added a short, “Fine, let’s do it.”

That voice. It reverberated through her. An image of him whispering the same words to her swam before her eyes, an image of him leaning down, a hand tangling in her hair, his voice a suggestive breath in her ear. “Let’s do it.”

Oh. God, yes. Let’s.

Only when she noticed the sensual gleam shimmering through the icy stare did she realize she’d whispered the words out loud. He’d had no trouble understanding their meaning.

“Perhaps another time,” he answered, his voice a low growl.

She wanted to say something but could not think of a single appropriate answer. She couldn’t think at all with those eyes feeding on her. Before she had a chance to speak, something resembling surprise flickered over his face. He blinked and straightened, snapping whatever invisible connection had cocooned them together.

Just like that, the moment passed.

“I’ll get the car and meet you outside,” his friend told him. “See you in five.” He walked away.

The man gave her a sharp nod. “Please excuse me. I must go.”

“Uh, yes, of course.” Lexi shook her head to clear it. “Thank you, again. For breaking my fall.” She gave a stilted smile and forced herself to put one leg in front of the other while her heart hammered unevenly in her chest. “It was nice to meet you.”

She walked toward the auditorium. The prickling sensation down her back told her the ice blue eyes followed her progress past the lounge and through the doors leading to the hall. Not once did she allow herself the pleasure, or humiliation, of looking back.

JR Patrick is my other half…um…yeah…not that way. lol We share a brain and she got all the good parts. ROFL! I talk to her just about every day and I love getting a phone call at work and she talks and then says…this is JR. Like I wouldn’t know. heehee

She is VERY talented and I have the pleasure of working with her on a story. Really…same brain. lol

JR doesn’t have a lot of books out…yet! So we are doing a little think called a round robin. I’ll be starting with the blurb and then give you the link to the next part of the excerpts. It should be fun!!

Her first book is Only Yours at Dreamspinner. Here is the blurb.

When Dre asks his boyfriend Nate to move in, Nate leaves in the night without a word. Dre thinks he pushed too hard too fast, but the truth is a little more complicated. Nate is afraid Dre would dump him if Dre knew about his job in adult entertainment. Six months later, Dre is still beating himself up over scaring Nate away when they meet again… at a club where Nate works.

The next part can be found at Mari Carr’s site.

Remember to go to International Heat for JR’s contest information.
Hmmm…I think I met most of IH there. ROFL! Any way, we were getting ready for Lori Fosters in 2009. Jayne didn’t really know anyone and I told her she should try to get a room close to ours. This was the year V, Mari, Rae, Viv and I met. And the year, after meeting and talking to Jayne, we asked her to join the group. She fit right in. I just love Jayne. And her writing. My favorite Jayne book, at this time, is Night is Darkest. The book completely rocks. And not just because there is a nurse in it named Jambrea. lol I’m still trying to get her to write me a story with a cop and a doctor. m/m/f of course.

Here is the cover and blurb:

Spending time in close contact with Mason and Tyler, the two men she’s dreamed of since her first girlhood crush, seems like the answer to a prayer. Especially when they begin to explore the desire she’s harbored for so long.

But the partners are holding out on Lacey. Determined to suppress the most extreme facets of their lust, they agree to settle for sharing the woman they crave while concealing their desire for each other. Until Lacey cracks their resolve, unleashing a torrent of emotions that threatens to distract them when they can least afford it.

Their blossoming relationship is complicated by secrets. And the only way to evade the killer threatening their lives is to bare their souls in the darkest hours of the night. Or everything will come crashing down, just before the dawn.

Warning: After reading this book you’ll never look at a pair of hot cops, a cemetery or a can of Spaghetti-O’ s the same way again.

Now to the excerpt. I’m not the only IHer who LOVED this book. JR does too and we are sharing an excerpt. To read the first half of this go to JR’s Blog. Here is my part and it is an m/m scene:

A strong breeze ruffled Tyler’s hair as the bottle of alcohol whizzed past his right ear on its way to oblivion. It smashed into the brick fireplace with a tinkle of glass. The arm he’d instinctively raised to protect his face prevented him from witnessing Mason’s charge but the impact of their collision rocked every joint in Tyler’s body. The shorter man brought him to the floor without effort.

“Or…” Ty choked against the pressure on his windpipe but he didn’t fight back. “…you could opt for all three.” Broad fingers spanned his throat, pinning him to the beige shag.

“She was off limits for a reason!” Mason’s temple bulged as he got right up in Tyler’s face. His free hand fisted in Ty’s shirt as he shook him. “We just lost Rob. Do you want to chase her away, too? You’ll only end up hurting her and I won’t fucking let you do that because you can’t say no to your cock. After years of hard work, you had to fuck up now?”

Tyler winced as Mason shifted on top of him. The full weight of his powerful frame straddled Ty’s torso while the other man’s shins trapped his arms on the ground. Being manhandled didn’t sit well with him. Every guy had his limits and the events of yesterday had pushed him beyond rational thinking. Up close and personal with the bulging crotch of his roommate’s jeans, self-preservation flew out the window as his smart mouth took over.

It wouldn’t be the first time it’d gotten him in trouble.

“Jealous, Mason? Don’t you wish you’d stayed? You could have slaked that woody about to drill a hole in your pants. I bet you jacked off at least three times since then. It didn’t matter, did it?”

“Of course I’m jealous, asshole. We’ve craved her for nearly a decade. But I’m man enough to walk away if I have to. Even from something I want more than my next fucking breath.” Ty had never seen him this pissed, and that was saying something. Mason possessed a legendary temper. He leaned down to snarl right in Tyler’s face. “And I suggest you keep your eyes off my junk unless you plan to do something about it.”

The combination of anguish and need radiating from every flexed muscle of the man on top of him dissolved the defiance Ty’d attempted to use as a shield. Mason’s suffering affected him as much as Lacey’s had yesterday. All resistance fled. He went slack in Mason’s hold.

A throaty growl echoed around them as the dominant man’s hand moved in a flash from its perch on Tyler’s throat to rip the flaps of his own button fly apart. His glorious cock stood framed in denim, the veins pronounced and throbbing. Even as Mason’s hips thrust forward, Ty opened his mouth to welcome the intrusion.

He’d never get used to the mammoth girth stretching his jaw, though he’d given Mason hundreds of blowjobs. Each time, the thickness impressed him as he savored the weight on his tongue and the ecstasy on his lover’s face. Mason reached forward, cradling the back of Tyler’s head in his palm as he urged him to take more. His fury evaporated as desire replaced it.

“Fuck, yes. That’s right, Ty. Suck me.”
